CCNA And CCNP Cisco Tutorial: Pings (And How To Stop Them!) 5
Question by BigBee: Is it a must to pass the CCNA exam before you pass CCNP or you can just skip CCNA and go straight to CCNP ?
I’ve taken the CCNA course and was wondering if i shouldn’t continue taking the CCNP course and take its exam without taking the CCNA one first.
Thanks.

CCNA certification is required, as per Cisco’s official CCNP syllabus:

Also, the CCNA can be taken as one test but it’s usually taken as two, and the CCNP is actually four tests but you can take a composite to cut it down to three. At the end of the day you’re looking at at least four exams, and that’s if you take two composites with a huge amount of material covered in each.

Question by buddio: Would I be better off studying for a CCNA certification?
I am A+ certified and currently studying for my Network+ cert. Am I wasting my time going for the Network+ rather than a CCNA certification, for instance? I am interested in working in a SOHO environment sometime in the future. Thanks.

If you are currently studying to Net+, stay with it and get that cert first. It will give you a good understand of networking basics that can then be applied to the CCNA environment.
